Description
Delicious and crispy Baby Bloomin’ Onions made from sweet Cipollini onions, perfect for parties or as a snack.
Ingredients
- Cipollini onions
- Flour
- Cornstarch
- Baking powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Eggs
- Milk
- Breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Peel the cipollini onions and soak them in ice water for at least 30 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Remove onions from water and dredge them in the flour mixture, then dip them in the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to around 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the onions in the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
Notes
These onions can also be baked for a healthier option. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
