Description

Delicious and crispy Baby Bloomin’ Onions made from sweet Cipollini onions, perfect for parties or as a snack.


Ingredients

  • Cipollini onions
  • Flour
  • Cornstarch
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Peel the cipollini onions and soak them in ice water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.
  4. Remove onions from water and dredge them in the flour mixture, then dip them in the egg mixture, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to around 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully place the onions in the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

These onions can also be baked for a healthier option. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
