Delightful homemade cinnamon rolls that are soft, fluffy, and topped with a sweet cream cheese frosting. Perfect for breakfast or dessert!

- 1 cup milk, heated to 110°F
- 2 + 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 large room-temperature egg
- 2 Tbsp melted butter (divided)
- 4 Tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus 2-4 Tbsp as needed
- 6 Tbsp softened butter (for filling)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
- 4 Tbsp softened butter (for frosting)
- 4 oz softened cream cheese
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, active dry yeast, egg, 1 tablespoon of melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk together until combined.
- Gradually mix in 3 cups of all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms. If the dough feels sticky, sprinkle in a bit more flour as needed. Knead it gently for about 3 minutes.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and place it in a warm area. Allow the dough to rise for about an hour, or until it has doubled in size.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the cinnamon filling evenly, roll it up tightly, and cut into 8 equal rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, cover, and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F. Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly golden. Allow to cool for 15 minutes.
- Beat together the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until velvety.
- Generously spread the frosting over the warm rolls and enjoy your delicious homemade creation!

These rolls are best served warm. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze before baking.
