- 1 cup warmed whole milk (110°F)
- ½ cup melted unsalted butter
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 ½ tsp active dry yeast
- 1 egg (room temperature)
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 3 ⅓ cups bread flour
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 ½ tsp freshly ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 3.50 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 3 tbsp softened unsalted butter
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- Dash of salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm the milk to 110°F and combine it with melted butter, sugar, and yeast. Let it stand for 10 minutes until frothy.
- Whisk the egg in a separate bowl, add to the yeast mixture, and mix well.
- Gradually stir in flour and salt, knead until slightly sticky.
- Shape the dough into a ball, place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Mix cinnamon and brown sugar for the filling.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
- Tightly roll the dough, cut into 9 equal sections, and place in a lined baking dish. Let rise for 40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Combine frosting ingredients and spread over warm rolls after they cool for 10 minutes.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute almond milk for whole milk. You can add nuts or fruits to the filling for variations.
