Description

Classic soft sugar cookies with a delightful texture and a hint of vanilla and almond flavor, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, stir together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully mixed.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Dip the bottom of a glass in confectioners’ sugar and flatten each ball slightly.
  8. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are soft.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool on wire racks before serving.

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week. For longer storage, freeze the cookies for up to three months.
