Description

Delicious and fluffy cinnamon rolls infused with the warm spices of chai tea, perfect for brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for the filling)
  • 1/4 cup chai tea (brewed and cooled)
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for caramel sauce)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for caramel sauce)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Whisk together warm milk, brown sugar, and yeast; let it foam for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add melted butter, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger; mix until soft dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover and let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough, spread brown sugar and chai tea mixture; roll tightly.
  6. Cut into pieces and arrange in a greased baking dish.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and let rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and cooled chai tea until smooth for frosting.
  10. Melt butter and brown sugar, stir in heavy cream to make caramel sauce.
  11. Drizzle caramel and cream cheese frosting over warm rolls and serve.

Notes

For best results, use warm milk and a strong chai tea. Try adding cardamom or vanilla for flavor variations.
