Description

Delightful classic sugar cookies that are soft, slightly chewy, and perfect for decorating or serving plain.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 tablespoons sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder; stir well.
  3. Cream the softened butter and white sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Roll teaspoonfuls of dough into small balls and coat in sugar.
  7. Place the dough balls on cookie sheets with space between them.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are golden.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on wire racks before serving.

Notes

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container. They can be frozen for up to three months.
