Description

A delightful twist on traditional French toast, combining the rich flavors of crème brûlée with a soft texture, perfect for special occasions or weekend brunches.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of challah or brioche bread
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)
  • Butter (for greasing the pan)

Instructions

  1. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the loaf of bread into thick slices and arrange them in the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, ensuring all slices are soaked.
  5. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar over the top of the soaked bread.
  8. Bake for 40-50 minutes until golden brown and custard is set.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Best served warm with fresh fruits, syrup, or whipped cream. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
