Description

A quick, flavorful, and budget-friendly dish featuring crispy beef, fresh vegetables, and satisfying rice, perfect for busy weeknights.


Ingredients

  • 300g 5% fat beef mince
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 20ml dark soy sauce
  • 15ml sriracha
  • 10g tomato puree
  • 20g honey
  • 250g cooked rice
  • Optional toppings: sliced spring onion, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Chop the onion, bell pepper, and garlic.
  2. Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the onion and bell pepper for 1-2 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Introduce the beef mince into the pan, cooking and stirring until the liquid has evaporated and the beef is nicely browned.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the dark soy sauce, sriracha, tomato puree, honey, and a splash of water until well combined.
  6. Pour the sauce over the beef mixture and cook until it thickens up perfectly.
  7. Stir in the cooked rice until it’s evenly coated and heated through.
  8. Top with sliced spring onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free soy sauce or tamari. Customize the vegetables and spice level to your preference!
