Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt.
- Add Butter: Incorporate the chilled and cubed unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Form the Dough: Gradually add cold water to form a dough, avoiding overmixing.
- Roll and Cut: Roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thick and cut into rectangles.
- Add the Filling: Place fruit jam on half of the rectangles and cover with the remaining rectangles. Seal the edges.
- Egg Wash: Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and Ice: Cool the pop tarts and drizzle icing made from powdered sugar and milk over them.
