Description

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 ½ cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons of colored sugar (for decoration, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Whisk together and set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, mixing until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Form dough into balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Press each dough ball down slightly and sprinkle colored sugar on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are light golden brown.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Enjoy your cookies with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage.
