Description

Deliciously soft sugar cookies with a light crunch on the edges, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder; set aside.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the mixture and beat until well combined.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Roll dough into balls and place them on ungreased baking sheets with space between them.
  7. Flatten each dough ball slightly and sprinkle with reserved sugar.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cool on sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm with milk or ice cream. These cookies can be decorated and personalized for holidays.
