Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
  3. Gradually pour the wet mix into the dry mix and stir until just combined.
  4. In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the beignets from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
  7. Dust with powdered sugar while they are still warm and serve immediately.

Notes

Beignets are best enjoyed fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
