- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually pour the wet mix into the dry mix and stir until just combined.
- In a deep pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the beignets from the oil and drain them on paper towels.
- Dust with powdered sugar while they are still warm and serve immediately.
Notes
Beignets are best enjoyed fresh. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
