Description

A simple and delicious frosting perfect for decorating sugar cookies for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (softened to room temperature)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A dash of salt
  • 3 tablespoons cream (more or less)

Instructions

  1. Soften the Butter: Take your salted butter out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Beat the Butter: Place the softened butter in a mixing bowl and beat until fluffy and smooth, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the Sugar and Flavorings: Gradually add the powdered sugar, almond extract, vanilla extract, and a dash of salt. Start with about 2 tablespoons of cream.
  4. Mix Until Smooth: Continue mixing until the frosting is smooth and creamy, adjusting cream if too thick.
  5. Add Food Coloring: If desired, mix in food coloring until the desired shade is achieved.
  6. Frost the Cookies: Use a spatula or piping bag to frost your sugar cookies.
  7. Add Sprinkles: Before the frosting sets, add your favorite toppings like sprinkles or edible glitter.

Notes

Always use room-temperature butter for the best texture. You can make it vegan by using vegan butter and non-dairy milk.
