Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter (Softened)
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Blanched Slivered Almonds (Chopped finely)
  • 1/2 cup Candied/Maraschino Cherries (Chopped)
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the almond extract to the butter mixture.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually mix into the butter mixture until fully combined.
  5. Fold in the chopped almonds and cherries evenly into the dough.
  6. Roll small amounts of dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the bottoms are slightly golden. The tops should remain pale and soft.
  8. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Roll cooled cookies in powdered sugar until well coated.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze in layers with parchment paper.
