- 1 cup Unsalted Butter (Softened)
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 1/2 cup Blanched Slivered Almonds (Chopped finely)
- 1/2 cup Candied/Maraschino Cherries (Chopped)
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the almond extract to the butter mixture.
- In another bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually mix into the butter mixture until fully combined.
- Fold in the chopped almonds and cherries evenly into the dough.
- Roll small amounts of dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the bottoms are slightly golden. The tops should remain pale and soft.
- Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack. Roll cooled cookies in powdered sugar until well coated.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze in layers with parchment paper.
