Description

A delicious and easy breakfast casserole that you can prepare the night before, made with soft bread, creamy eggs, and sweet flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche works well)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Butter for greasing
  • Powdered sugar (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease the baking dish with butter to prevent sticking.
  2. Cut the loaf of bread into small, one-inch cubes and place evenly in the greased dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  5. Cover the baking dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  6. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) when ready to bake.
  7. Let the dish sit at room temperature for 15 minutes, then bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set.
  8. Let it cool slightly and optionally dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a personalized touch, serve with fresh fruit, whipped cream, or additional maple syrup. You can also sprinkle extras like cinnamon on top or add yogurt.
