Soft, chewy snickerdoodle cookies with a warm cinnamon flavor, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, plus 3 tbsp for rolling
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Lightly grease a cookie sheet or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until fluffy.
  5. Beat in the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients until just combined.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the remaining sugar with the cinnamon.
  8. Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and coat in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  9. Place on the cookie sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  10. Bake for 6-8 minutes until edges are golden and centers are soft.
  11. Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before rolling into balls.
