Description

Deliciously soft and chewy sugar cookies, perfect for any occasion!


Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • Additional granulated sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Add milk, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough holds together nicely.
  8. Scoop out balls of dough, about 1-2 inches in size, and roll in additional granulated sugar.
  9. Place rolled dough balls about 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  10. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until edges are set but centers look soft.
  11. Cool on baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
