Description
Delicious and easy-to-make appetizers combining spinach and artichoke in flaky puff pastry, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 puff pastry sheet
- 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
- 1/4 cup artichokes, chopped
- 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1/8 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- Salt (to taste)
- Fresh cracked pepper (to taste)
- Red pepper flakes (to taste)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Thaw 1 sheet of puff pastry on the counter for about 30 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, artichokes, Parmesan cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Once the pastry is ready, cut it in half, creating two equal rectangles.
- Spread the spinach artichoke mixture evenly over one half of the puff pastry.
- Place the second half of the puff pastry on top, effectively sandwiching the filling.
- Using a sharp knife, cut the pastry into six long strips.
- Twist each strip and roll it into a spiral shape, tucking the ends underneath to keep them secure during baking.
- Brush the tops with the egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 tsp water) for a golden finish.
- Arrange the swirls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let them cool slightly, then serve warm!
