Description

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed hard candy (various colors)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well blended.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until fully integrated.
  5. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until a cohesive dough forms.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch in thickness.
  7. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough.
  8. Remove the center of each cookie using a smaller cutter to create a window for your candy.
  9. Fill the holes generously with crushed hard candy.
  10. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  11. Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet before transferring them to a wire rack.
