Delicious and fun cake pops inspired by Starbucks’ birthday cake pops, perfect for celebrations.
Ingredients

- 1 (13.25 oz) box of any store-bought vanilla cake mix
- ⅓ cup neutral oil (such as vegetable, avocado, or canola)
- 1 cup milk or water
- 4 large eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- 1 tsp milk (add more if needed)
- 12 oz candy melts
- White nonpareils or sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325-350°F (162-175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix all the cake ingredients until smooth.
- Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake according to box instructions.
- Once baked, crumble the cake while warm in a mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, mix the buttercream ingredients until smooth, then combine with the crumbled cake.
- Roll the mixture into balls about 1¼ inches (3 cm) in diameter.
- Chill the cake pops in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
- Melt a small amount of candy melts in the microwave until smooth.
- Dip the tip of a stick into the melted candy and insert into each cake ball.
- Freeze the cake pops again for 15 minutes.
- Dip each chilled cake pop into the remaining melted candy coating.
- Remove excess candy coating by tapping softly.
- Quickly add sprinkles or nonpareils before the coating hardens.
- Place the finished cake pops into a styrofoam block to dry.
Notes
Store cake pops in an airtight container. They last up to one week refrigerated or can be frozen for longer storage.
