Ingredients

- 2 and ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- ½ cup of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 and ½ cups of white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon of almond extract (optional)
- ½ teaspoon of salt
- ¼ cup of colored sugar or sprinkles (for decoration, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a lined baking sheet with space in between.
- If desired, roll the cookie balls in colored sugar or add sprinkles before baking.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers are set.
- Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
