Description

Delicious and versatile sugar cookies perfect for any occasion, easy to make and customizable with decorations.


Ingredients

  • 2 and ¾ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • ½ cup of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 and ½ cups of white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon of almond extract (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ cup of colored sugar or sprinkles (for decoration, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and white sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into tablespoon-sized balls and place them on a lined baking sheet with space in between.
  7. If desired, roll the cookie balls in colored sugar or add sprinkles before baking.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden and centers are set.
  9. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
