- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- Sprinkles or frosting for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and white sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract (if using) to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until smooth.
- Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until the dough starts to come together.
- Shape the dough into small balls and place on ungreased baking pans, flattening each slightly.
- Bake cookies for 8 to 10 minutes, until edges are golden brown.
- Remove cookies from the oven and let them cool on wire racks. Decorate with sprinkles or frosting as desired.
Notes
For softer cookies, try adding a little extra butter or shortening.
