A delicious and healthy twist on a classic dish, combining tender chicken with creamy cottage cheese and rich tomato sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Cook the chicken in the skillet for about 5-7 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove the chicken from the skillet and slice it into strips or bite-sized pieces.
  6. In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese and half of the mozzarella cheese.
  7. In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom.
  8. Add the cooked chicken pieces over the sauce, then top with the cottage cheese mixture.
  9. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the cottage cheese and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Optional: garnish with fresh basil before serving.

Notes

Use low-fat cottage cheese for a lighter version. Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers to the sauce for extra nutrition.
