Description

Buñuelos are crispy, sweet treats perfect for festive celebrations, made with just 4 simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons refined coconut oil, melted
  • ⅔ cup warm water
  • 12 cups neutral vegetable oil (canola, peanut, corn, etc.)
  • 6 tablespoons cane sugar
  • ½ tablespoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in the melted coconut oil and warm water. Knead the dough until it becomes soft and smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into smaller portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Carefully place the rolled dough in the oil and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Notes

Serve warm, sprinkled with a mix of sugar and cinnamon, or with honey or chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
