Description
Buñuelos are crispy, sweet treats perfect for festive celebrations, made with just 4 simple ingredients.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons refined coconut oil, melted
- ⅔ cup warm water
- 1–2 cups neutral vegetable oil (canola, peanut, corn, etc.)
- 6 tablespoons cane sugar
- ½ tablespoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Stir in the melted coconut oil and warm water. Knead the dough until it becomes soft and smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Divide the dough into smaller portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat. Carefully place the rolled dough in the oil and fry until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Notes
Serve warm, sprinkled with a mix of sugar and cinnamon, or with honey or chocolate sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
