Description
A creamy and delicious chicken orzo dish perfect for weeknight meals and special occasions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken breasts (boneless, skinless)
- To taste salt (for seasoning)
- To taste pepper (for seasoning)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
- 1 cup orzo pasta (dry)
- 2 cups chicken broth (low-sodium recommended)
- 1 cup heavy cream (for richness)
- 1 cup spinach (fresh, chopped)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for garnish)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (for flavor)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (for flavor)
Instructions
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the chicken breasts, ensuring they are evenly coated for maximum flavor.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side until they are golden and cooked through. Remove from the skillet.
- In the same skillet, pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Add orzo, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to the simmering broth. Stir occasionally, allowing it to cook for 10-12 minutes until the orzo is tender and creamy.
- Once the orzo absorbs the broth, add the heavy cream and chopped spinach. Stir in the Parmesan cheese until everything is beautifully creamy and well combined.
- Thinly slice the cooked chicken and place it right on top of the creamy orzo mixture.
- Sprinkle additional Parmesan on top for an extra cheesy finish, and serve warm to your guests.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, reheating with a splash of broth or cream if needed.
