Description

Firecracker Hot Dogs are an exciting twist on the classic hot dog, bursting with bold flavors from a spicy and creamy Firecracker Sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 all-beef hot dogs
  • 8 soft hot dog buns, lightly toasted
  • For Firecracker Sauce:
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • For Toppings:
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (or pepper jack)
  • ½ cup diced red onions
  • ½ cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. Make the Firecracker Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sriracha, honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and lime juice until smooth. Adjust the sriracha or honey to taste.
  2. Prep the Toppings: Dice the red onions, slice the jalapeños (remove seeds for less heat), shred the cheese, and roughly chop the cilantro. Set these aside.
  3. Heat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F). If you are using a grill pan, heat it over medium-high on the stove.
  4. Grill the Hot Dogs: Place the hot dogs on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally to achieve an even char without burning.
  5. Toast the Buns: During the last 2 minutes of grilling, place the buns cut-side down on the grill to lightly toast and warm them.
  6. Assemble the Hot Dogs: Spread some Firecracker Sauce inside each bun, add the grilled hot dog, then top with shredded cheese, diced onions, jalapeños, and cilantro. Drizzle extra sauce if desired.
  7. Serve Immediately: Enjoy the hot dogs fresh off the grill while the cheese is melty and the sauce is vibrant.

Notes

These hot dogs can be served with extra toppings and sauce on the side. For a complete meal, pair with crunchy potato chips or a fresh salad.
