Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup crushed candy canes or peppermint candies

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs, vanilla extract, and peppermint extract to the wet mixture and mix until well combined.
  5. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and crushed candy canes.
  7. Form dough balls of 1 to 2 tablespoons each and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, then let cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
