- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup fresh orange juice
- 2 tablespoons orange zest (from about 2 oranges)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Blend the softened butter and 1 cup of granulated sugar until creamy in a large mixing bowl.
- Add 4 large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Combine 2 cups of granulated sugar, 0.5 cup of all-purpose flour, 0.5 cup of fresh orange juice, 2 tablespoons of orange zest, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in another bowl. Mix well.
- Pour this orange juice mixture over the top of the batter in the baking dish.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until the bars are set and lightly golden on top.
- Allow them to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.
Notes
Serve chilled or at room temperature. Can be topped with powdered sugar or paired with vanilla ice cream for a special dessert.
