A classic dessert that captures the essence of summer with sweet peaches and a flaky crust.

- 4 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the peaches by mixing them with 1 cup of granulated sugar and lemon juice.
- Make the batter by combining flour, remaining sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add the milk, melted butter, and vanilla, then stir until just combined.
- Add about ½ cup of melted butter to the bottom of a baking dish.
- Pour the batter over the butter in the dish without stirring.
- Add the peach mixture on top of the batter without mixing.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes, until the top is golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
For best flavor, use ripe, fresh peaches. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
