how to make Foil Pack Philly Cheesesteak Dinners

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup green pepper, cut into 1/2" pieces
  • 4 cups potatoes (approx. 2 potatoes), diced into 1/2" pieces
  • 1 cup mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices of provolone, Swiss cheese, or American white processed cheese
  • 4 tsp steak seasoning blend (or 2 tsp garlic salt or kosher salt)
  • 1 tsp pepper

Directions:

  1. Cut 8 foil sheets about 14" x 10". If the foil is flimsy, use a double layer.
  2. Lay 4 of the sheets out and spray with nonstick spray to help keep your food from sticking.
  3. Divide the ingredients between the 4 packets, placing everything in the center, starting with the onions, potatoes, green pepper, and mushrooms. Leave about 3 inches around the sides.
  4. Crumble 1-inch pieces of raw ground beef over the vegetables.
  5. Sprinkle each packet with 1 teaspoon of steak seasoning blend and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper.
  6. Place a second sheet of foil over the top. Seal the foil packets securely so the steam can’t escape. If the foil is flimsy, use a double layer.
  7. Cook until the vegetables are tender. (See instructions below for cooking time).
  8. Once cooked, carefully open the packets and place a slice of cheese on top, allowing it to melt. Loosely cover the top and let sit until the cheese melts. Adjust seasoning as needed. Serve and enjoy!
